There are times in our relationship with the Lord that we can go through the motions. When we know the right things to do, but our heart is far from God. We can put on a good façade on the outside but our inward love for God is cold. We can turn a vibrant relationship with the Lord into a check-list Christianity. This happened throughout the Bible to the people of God. The Lord directly addresses this in the book of Malachi. God’s people were making sacrifices and “doing their duty” but they had no love or devotion to the Lord. When we lose the heart of worship, we are in danger. This morning, we are going to look at coming back to the heart of worship, where it is all about the Lord.

The Heart of Worship - August 9, 2026 - Pastor Mark Pospisil

We are starting a new short series for the month of August on Worship. What is worship? That is a really important question to know. There seems to be a lot of confusion on what it actually is. Sometimes we think worship is just signing. People make statements like these, “worship was great today because they played my favorite songs,” or “I did not connect with worship because people’s hands were not raised.” Signing is indeed an expression of worship but it is way deeper than that. Jesus tells us in John 4 that, “true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.” It is vital for us to understand that worship is not just a part of our lives, but it is what we do with our lives. All of life is worship. It is not something that is just done on a certain day or location. We worship God by how and why we live. This morning, we are going to look at what worship is and how to worship God in spirit and truth.

What is Worship? - August 2, 2026 - Pastor Mark Pospisil

Throughout Scripture, both in the Old and New Testament, we often read about both loving the Lord and fearing the Lord. When done biblically, those are really good, really necessary things. But we can go to one extreme or the other, and this sometimes leads us to spiritually unhealthy places. This week, we’ll talk about how maintaining an appropriate balance of biblical love and biblical fear toward the Lord can ultimately lead us closer to God while lighting a fire that fuels our spiritual growth and disciplines.

Joy, prayer, and gratitude should be ongoing in our lives because this is the will of God for us. It is God’s will for us to be joyful, prayerful, and thankful in all of life.

The Three Constants of Christian Flourishing - July 19 2026 - Dr. Winfred Neely

This week is Youth Sunday and we are looking at Luke 19 and the story of Zacchaeus. We will be talking about how Jesus pursues us and what happens when we seek Him as well. In just ten verses, we see the amazing truth that Jesus actively seeks out the lost and the broken among us. Though Zacchaeus was a traitor and outcast to his own people, Jesus called him by name, invited Himself into his home, and transformed his life. Just one encounter with Jesus led to repentance, restored relationships, and lasting change.

As disciples of Jesus, we want to live for Christ. We want to know Him and make Him known. But how? Jesus tells us to take His yoke upon ourselves and learn from Him; He tells us to abide and stay with Him. Paul tells us in Galatians 5:16-18 to walk in submission to the Holy Spirit. What is involved with such a lifestyle? We will identify those things as we look in Galatians 5:16-18 in our pursuit to Step Up and walk under the control of the Holy Spirit.

Step Up - July 5, 2026 - Pastor Chris Clark

3 John is the shortest book in the New Testament. It is often overlooked and underappreciated. Yet, it is filled with great truths for our spiritual and relational lives. The focus is on three individuals and the church as a whole embracing the truth and living at peace with others. One person was faithful, one was flawed and the last one was fruitful. We see that the Lord desires us to love, embrace, and walk in the truth. We also see that conflict happens when we do not keep Christ first. When people become big and God becomes small, many problems happen. This morning, we are going to look at how to navigate walking in the truth and being fruitful in our lives.

The book of 2 John is a very brief and short letter. It is written to help us remain in the truth and walk in love. There are many minefields to traverse in our walk with God. One of those is drifting from the truth of Jesus. John reminds us to “watch yourselves,” and not believe everything you hear. There are external and internal threats. We need to be on guard against false teachings and lies that try to derail our walk with the Lord. Also, we need to guard our hearts from lacking love. We do not have to feel inadequate or afraid, as we will see that the Lord has given us everything we need for life and godliness in Christ.

The Lakes Church - June 21 2026 11:15 am

Our journey through the book of 1 John ends this morning. This our 18th week in it and the Lord has taught us so many things. There are certain things that the Lord wants us to know without a shadow of a doubt. One of those things is our salvation. We do not have to guess if God is our Father. We do not have to be confused if we are going to heaven. We do not have to lack assurance about our standing with the Lord. John tells us why he wrote his book in 1 John 5:13, “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.” We can KNOW that we have eternal life in Jesus. When we know that, it changes how we live and what we are living for.
