June 14 | 1 John, Without a Shadow of a Doubt – Part 18: Knowing Without a Shadow of a Doubt, 1 John 5:13-21 – Pastor Mark Pospisil
Synopsis: Our journey through the book of 1 John ends this Sunday. This is our 18th week in it and the Lord has taught us so many things. There are certain things that the Lord wants us to know without a shadow of a doubt. One of those things is our salvation. We do not have to guess if God is our Father. We do not have to be confused if we are going to heaven. We do not have to lack assurance about our standing with the Lord. John tells us why he wrote his book in 1 John 5:13, “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.” We can KNOW that we have eternal life in Jesus. When we know that, it changes how we live and what we are living for.

SERVE OPPORTUNITY | JUNE 13
*Volunteer Opportunity*
Our Outreach Ministry is organizing a Senior Dinner event in partnership with Open Door Outreach. Residents within our community are invited to enjoy dinner, games, and a fun afternoon connecting with neighbors and The Lakes Church family.
Three location service opportunities:
– Whispering Woods Community Center
– American Inn and Suites Lobby (7076 Highland Rd, Waterford, 48327)
– Lakeland Place (2700 Elizabeth Lake Rd, Waterford, 48328)
We’re looking for volunteers to help serve, connect, and make the afternoon extra special. You can sign up through the SignUpGenius link or email outreach@thelakescc.org with any questions.
BRUNCH ON THE PATIO | JUNE 14
Join us this Sunday for Brunch on the Patio! Following all three services, we invite you to join us on the patio and enjoy some food and community. (Make sure you pick up your kids first so they can join in on the fun too!)

BAPTISM | JUNE 14
Baptism is the natural next step once we are saved! It represents the new life that Jesus’ resurrection gives us and is a public sign of our faith in Christ. If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, we invite you to take this opportunity to demonstrate your faith in Christ.
We will have an opportunity to get baptized during all services on this Sunday. Please fill out this form to let me know you are interested in getting baptized!
VBS | 7/20-23
This summer’s Vacation Bible School at The Lakes Church will be about bringing hope to an anxious generation, as kids learn about the life of David while answering the question, “Is there a God who cares?” Come check out all the fun teachings, crafts, music, games, and more!
Monday, July 20th through Thursday, July 23rd | 6:00pm to 8:30pm nightly.
This event is open to any child Age 4 (must be 4 by 7/20/2026) through entering 5th Grade in the Fall of 2026.
FAMILY CAMPOUT | 7/24-26
Get ready for one of our favorite traditions of the year—our 15th Annual Church Family Outing at Somerset Beach Campground! This is more than just a weekend away—it’s a chance to unplug, recharge, and connect with friends and family in a beautiful lakeside setting.
Whether you’re bringing a camper or pitching a tent, there’s something for everyone:
– Soak up the sun on the beach
– Take a refreshing swim in the lake
– Zipline for a little adventure
– Jump into volleyball, pickleball, or cornhole games
– Wind down with bonfires and great conversations
– Enjoy a classic wagon ride
Or simply relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings
Cost: $68 per campsite (covers both nights)

Core Ministries – Weekly Update
The beginnings of Paul’s journey as a missionary showcased the power and providence of God, despite the persecution and distractions he faced. This week, we’ll ask the question, “What role do hardships play in our spiritual lives as we seek to live on mission for Chrsit?”
EARLY CHILDHOOD – Early Childhood (Birth – Kindergarten) program available during the 9:30 and 11:15 Sunday services.
ELEMENTARY AGE (1st-5th grade) – Elementary age program available Sundays during the 9:30 and 11:15 services and Wednesday Kids Creek from 6:30-8pm during the school year!
INFANT AND TODDLER STORYTIME – Looking for a Christ-centered way to break up your day, and get to meet other Moms with Littles? Come check out The Lakes Children Infant & Toddler Story Time. Ages 4 and under. 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 10am-12pm in the upper level of the church. – On break until fall

MONDAY NIGHT YOUNG ADULT GROUP –Looking for community, purpose, and real connection? Join our Young Adult Ministry—a place to grow in faith, build friendships, and navigate life together. Whether you’re in college, starting your career, or figuring things out—we’ve got a seat for you! Ages 18 (post high school) through 29, join us on Mondays from 7:00-9:00pm. We meet weekly at Lakes West (7150 Cooley Lake Rd, shared upper parking lot). Email Ministry leader Dave Borowicz with any questions.

OUR WEEKLY SERVICE is centered around music, prayer, Bible stories and simple life lessons. All ages and abilities are welcome to come and be free to be themselves while actively participating as a contributing member of an inclusive and loving faith community at The Lakes Church.
Monthly Prayer | Lakes Women meet for prayer the first Saturday of each month from 9:30am to 10:30am!
Quarterly “Chat-a-latte” gathering | Coffee/Tea & fellowship in the lower level Atrium
