February 5 | Genesis – Part 19 (Genesis 19:1-11): The Sin of Sodom (Elder Mike Snyder)
Sodom was a proud city that was very wealthy and very prosperous, but they were also a city that replaced morality with wickedness. They exchanged the glory of God for carnal passions and desires, and they had abandoned any notion of caring for the poor and needy. Today, we’ll be talking about the sin of Sodom, how they may have gotten to that point, and how we can avoid walking the same path.
Hebrews 13:2 – “Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.” (ESV)

WOMEN’S POTLUCK | TONIGHT! FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 6:30-10PM
Hors d’oeuvres and desserts, fun and games, and fellowship with your Lakes women friends; maybe even meet some new friends, or bring that friend who needs this community!
Come right at 6:30 or come at 8 when the kids are in bed. Stay the whole evening, or pop in for half an hour. Bring your favorite appetizer or that yummy dessert! Don’t miss this opportunity for community!

WORSHIP TEAM MEETING | SUNDAY, 2/5 AT 12:30PM (AFTER 2ND SERVICE)
If you are a part of, or interested in becoming a part of planning and executing worship here at the Lakes, the Worship Team will have a meeting THIS Sunday after second service right here in the Worship Center with some updates for the ministry, and an opportunity to learn more about how you can be a part of what goes into making our worship services happen. This is both for those currently involved with the ministry and for anyone interested in either musical worship or any of the behind the scenes stuff like lights, sound and other tech.

WOMEN’S CONFERENCE – THE IF:GATHERING | 3/3-4
We are so excited to host a live-streaming of the If:gathering this year, right here at The Lakes, as an If:Local location. We will be gathering on March 3-4 (Friday night-Saturday afternoon) for a simulcast of IF:2023 women’s conference in Dallas TX, and want YOU and our local community of women to join us!

ALL CHURCH FAMILY MEETING | SUNDAY, 3/5 AT 12:45PM (AFTER 2ND SERVICE)
Join us for this important opportunity to get an update from our leadership, receive a financial overview, get the first look at our 2022 Annual Report, and share in our hopes and prayers for 2023 as we take a look at our mission, vision and core values in light of a new and exciting year. HOPE FOR PARENTS OF PRODIGALS | 2ND & 4TH SATURDAYS AT 9AM
HOPE for Parents of Prodigals is a group for parents and grandparents whose teens and/or adult children are living a life apart from God. Hope, encouragement and peace will be found through prayer and focusing on Gods word. This is a great time to join as we just finished up a book together and are starting a new season.
We will meet on 2nd and 4th Saturdays at 9am on the 2nd floor of the building. Please contact Jeanne-Marie Galloway for more information.
Core Ministries – Weekly Update
EARLY CHILDHOOD – Early Childhood (Birth – Kindergarten) program available during the 9 and 11 Sunday services.
ELEMENTARY AGE (1st-5th grade) – Elementary age program available Sundays during The 9 and 11am services and Tuesday Kids Creek from 6:30-8pm during the school year!
THIS WEEK – Ooohhh – Tough story this week, but also a powerful lesson! The jealousy and anger Cain felt toward Abel provides a picture of the devastating effects of unchecked sin! We’ll be looking at how our sin can affect everyone around us, how sin destroys us…but then how, with God, we can fight sin.
THURSDAY YOUTH GROUP – Middle School and High School students meet on Thursdays from 6:30-8:30pm for a combined youth group service.
MONDAY HIGH SCHOOL GROW GROUPS – All high schoolers are invited to come to the Dewaeles’ house for Grow Groups on Monday nights from 6:30-8:30pm.
Monthly Prayer | Lakes Women meet for prayer the first Saturday of each month from 9:30am to 11:00am!
Quarterly “Chat-a-latte” gathering | Coffee/Tea & fellowship in the lower level Atrium – stay tuned for our next date!
Friday 2/3: Women’s Potluck – Hors D’oeuvres & Dessert
March 3-4: The If:gathering – registration is open!
Weekly Men’s Bible Study | Join the men of The Lakes upstairs on Saturday mornings from 8-9:30am as we study the Word and share life together.
Men’s Tuesday Bible Study | Please join us upstairs as Pastor Greg Alexander leads our weekly Bible study on Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30am
