January 22 | Genesis – Part 17: When God Renames You (Pastor Mark Pospisil)
God has revealed Himself to us through His different Names. He comes to Abram in Genesis 17 and says, I am El-Shaddai, which means God Almighty. He rules over all. The Lord then proceeds to change Abram’s name to Abraham and Sarai’s to Sarah. This change is hugely significant. It gives both Abraham and Sarah a new identity and promise that shapes their entire lives. When you meet and know the Living God, He renames you and gives you a whole new identity. We are going to see this and so much more in Genesis 17.
Genesis 17:1-2 – When Abram was ninety-nine years old the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be blameless, that I may make my covenant between me and you, and may multiply you greatly.”

What’s Happening?
WORSHIP TEAM MEETING | SUNDAY, 2/5 AT 12:30PM (AFTER 2ND SERVICE)
If you are a part of, or interested in becoming a part of planning and executing worship here at the Lakes, the Worship Team will have a meeting next Sunday after second service right here in the Worship Center with some updates for the ministry, and an opportunity to learn more about how you can be a part of what goes into making our worship services happen. This is both for those currently involved with the ministry and for anyone interested in either musical worship or any of the behind the scenes stuff like lights, sound and other tech.
WOMEN’S POTLUCK | FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 6:30-10PM
Hors d’oeuvres and desserts, fun and games, and fellowship with your Lakes women friends; maybe even meet some new friends, or bring that friend who needs this community!
Come right at 6:30 or come at 8 when the kids are in bed. Stay the whole evening, or pop in for half an hour. Bring your favorite appetizer or that yummy dessert! Don’t miss this opportunity for community!
SHINE SPECIAL NEEDS SERVICE | SUNDAY, JANUARY 29TH
Join us next Sunday at 1pm in 219 (2nd floor large group room).
Our Monthly prayer service is centered around music, prayer, Bible stories and simple life lessons. All ages and abilities are welcome to come and be free to be themselves while actively participating as a contributing member of an inclusive and loving faith community at The Lakes Church. TRAIL LIFE | MONDAYS AT 6PM (2nd floor)
Trail Life USA is a Christ-centered, outdoor leadership program for Kindergarten through 12th grade, focusing on providing Christian adventure, character, and leadership opportunities for young men. Troop MI-2627 is chartered by The Lakes Church, in partnership with Oakdale Academy, with a mission of “Training Boys to Become Godly Men.”

Core Ministries – Weekly Update
EARLY CHILDHOOD – Early Childhood (Birth – Kindergarten) program available during the 9 and 11 Sunday services.
ELEMENTARY AGE (KIDS CREEK) – Elementary program (Grades 1st – 5th) is open during the 9 and 11 Sunday services and also meet on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8pm*.
THIS WEEK – We’ve been learning that God created everything, including people, to display His glory. But…what does God’s glory mean? Is it a brilliant white light? Can it be seen in the beauty of creation all around us? This week we’ll leave your children in awe of how big and how good and how loving God is!
THURSDAY YOUTH GROUP – Middle School and High School students meet on Thursdays from 6:30-8:30pm for a combined youth group (MS and HS will split for teaching/small group time).
This week is Josh Broyles’ first Thursday as the Lakes Youth Pastor. Be there to welcome him!
MONDAY HIGH SCHOOL GROW GROUPS – All high schoolers are invited to come to the Dewaeles’ house for Grow Groups on Monday* nights (*note the change from Sundays to Mondays!) from 6:30-8:30pm.
Monthly Prayer | Lakes Women meet for prayer the first Saturday of each month from 9:30am to 11:00am!
Quarterly “Chat-a-latte” gathering | Coffee/Tea & fellowship in the lower level Atrium
Wednesdays 1/18 – 3/8: Current Women’s Bible Study !

Weekly Men’s Bible Study | Join the men of The Lakes upstairs on Saturday mornings from 8-9:30am as we study the Word and share life together.
