January 1 | A Fresh Start (Ken Grace)
Many of us (maybe 99.9999996%?) wish we could go back in time and change a decision or a series of decisions we have made. And it’s always for the same reason: we do not like the consequences of those decisions. What we hope for is a fresh start. And then we have New Years Day 2023. The pretend day of “resolutions” right? Even if you never make them, we hear about them. God is the God of the ultimate fresh start. That’s why Jesus came to us as a man. New Year’s Day 2023 would be a great day to focus on some of your life’s areas to get a Fresh Start.
*We are back to two services this Sunday!
Fighter Verse – Philippians 3:13-14 “No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.”

LAKES STUDENTS | UPDATE AND LAST CHANCE FOR ICE CAMP!
We are pleased to inform you that after an extensive interview process, much prayer and deliberation from our elders, we have extended a job offer to Josh Broyles as our new Lakes Student Pastor. He has accepted the offer and his official start date will be January 15, 2023. Praise God!
This January we’re heading to Lawton, MI for Ice Camp! This is for students in grades 6-12 and will take place on 1/20-22. The cost to go on this trip is $135 and the deadline to sign up is Sunday, January 1st. Register today right HERE.

NEW ROOTED GROUP | MONDAY NIGHTS, STARTING JANUARY 16TH
Rooted is designed for all people but especially new people to the church, new Christians, and those who are looking for a refresh to their spiritual lives. We have seasonal 10-week Rooted groups running a few times every year with a new one starting January 16th, hosted in West Bloomfield.
NEW WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY| WEDNESDAY NIGHTS, 1/18-3/8
New Lakes Women Bible Study running on Wednesdays from January 20-March 8 on the upper level of the building. We will be diving into the book Isaiah by Melissa Spoelstra (Lifeway).
WOMEN’S CHAT-A-LATTE | JANUARY 14TH
NEXT BAPTISM SUNDAY | JANUARY 15TH
Baptism is the natural next step once we are saved! It represents the new life that Jesus’ resurrection gives us and a public sign of our faith in Christ. If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, we invite you to take this opportunity to demonstrate your faith in Christ.
We will have an opportunity to get baptized during both services on Sunday, January 15th. Please fill out this form to let me know you are interested in getting baptized or simply respond to this email.
Core Ministries – Weekly Update
EARLY CHILDHOOD – Note that while we have childcare for ages birth-4y on Christmas Eve there is no children’s programming or childcare this Sunday, Christmas Day.
ELEMENTARY AGE (KIDS CREEK) – Note that there is no children’s programming or childcare on this Sunday, Christmas Day.
*Tuesday night Kids Creek is breaking for the Christmas season and will pick up again on January 10th.*

CHRISTMAS BREAK – *Youth Group is taking a break for the holidays and will pick back up on January 12th. Grow Groups will pick back up in January as well – date TBD. Stay tuned for more information to come about the new year!
