September 24 | Proverbs – The Wisdom of God for Today’s Issues: Part 8 – Humility vs Pride – Mark Pospisil
Synopsis: God resists the prideful but gives grace to the humble. One thing that we all struggle with is pride. It was the first sin committed. Pride is a deadly poison. It can wreck our lives and relationships. It can blind us and also isolate us. The book of Proverbs reveals God’s disgust with pride but also delight with humility. It shows us how to be truly wise by embracing humility and following the Lord. We will be seeing what humility looks like and how to guard against pride in our own hearts through Proverbs.
Fighter Verse: Proverbs 11:2 – When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom.

What’s Happening?
RUN TO SET THEM FREE 5K/10K | OCTOBER 21
Join walkers and runners from all over the Metro Detroit area as The Lakes Church partners with Hope Against Trafficking for the “Run To Set Them Free 5K/10K” in the beautiful setting of Kensington Metropark. The start and finish location will be East Boat Launch Parking Area. The route will be paved and is stroller friendly.
Your participation will raise funds to help support Hope Against Trafficking and have a great impact within our community.
HARVEST FEST CANDY DONATION
Harvest Fest is quickly approaching (October 26). And with that, comes a great need for candy. We are now taking donations! If you would like to donate, we will have a place for you to drop it off in the atrium in the coming weeks.

Core Ministries – Weekly Update
Joshua was getting along in years, so he gathered the people to remind them of a few things about God. He reminded them of their history, the truth of God’s character, and how they should follow Him. But, the Israelites were still faced with a huge choice….to follow God or or to serve other Gods? What did they decide?
EARLY CHILDHOOD – Early Childhood (Birth – Kindergarten) program available during the 9:30 and 11:15 Sunday services.
ELEMENTARY AGE (1st-5th grade) – Elementary age program available Sundays during The 9:30 and 11:15 services and Wednesday Kids Creek from 6:30-8pm during the school year!

THURSDAY YOUTH GROUP – Middle School and High School students meet on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30pm for a combined youth group service.
