March 29 | 1 John, Without a Shadow of a Doubt – Part 8: Know the Truth and Live No Lies, 1 John 2:18-27 – Pastor Mark Pospisil
Synopsis: We celebrate Palm Sunday this week. It is a special time to prepare to receive Christ deeper and recognize His Lordship over all of our lives. He is the King who came to save us and bring us the truth. The world around us is, at times, filled with lies. Deception and false teachings seem to be everywhere. Some things that are sought after and pursued are a mirage. There are things that make amazing promises but can never deliver. This section of 1 John is focusing on the “test of truth.” We are tempted to believe and live lies. John pulls no punches and focuses on making sure we believe the right things about Jesus. Anything, whether that is an idea, person, or teaching that denies Jesus as Lord and Savior is not only dangerous but deadly. He calls anyone that opposes the truth about Jesus the antichrist. In this section we are given a deep promise, a serious warning, and a constant encouragement to keep abiding in Jesus. We are going to unpack and see how to discern the truth from error when it comes to Jesus.
Fighter Verse: 1 John 2:26, 28 – I write these things to you about those who are trying to deceive you….And now, little children, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink from him in shame at his coming.

FAMILY SERVICE | MARCH 29
5th Sunday at The Lakes means Family Service! There will be no Lakes Children program for Elementary Age (1st-5th grade) this Sunday. We invite children in this age group to worship together with their families this Sunday! Early childhood (ages Birth-Kindergarten) still available during both the 9:30am and 11:15am services upstairs.
BAPTISM | APRIL 5
Baptism is the natural next step once we are saved! It represents the new life that Jesus’ resurrection gives us and is a public sign of our faith in Christ. If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, we invite you to take this opportunity to demonstrate your faith in Christ.
We will have an opportunity to get baptized during all services on this Sunday. Please fill out this form to let us know you are interested in getting baptized!
GOOD FRIDAY | APRIL 3
Join us at The Lakes Church on April 3 for our Good Friday services at 12pm and 6:30pm. Together, we will reflect on and remember the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. Children’s programming will be available for ages birth through 4 years old, so your whole family can participate in this meaningful time of worship.
EASTER SUNDAY | APRIL 5
We celebrate the cornerstone of Christianity, the resurrection of Jesus and the new life He gives to us! This year we will have FOUR services, and we can’t wait to celebrate with each of you at one of them! Join us at 7:15am, 8:30am, 10:00am, 11:30am, with full Lakes Children programming available in the 8:30am, 10:00am and 11:30am services.
We will also have baptism at all services on Easter. Please fill out this form to let Pastor Mark know if you are interested in getting baptized!
WOMEN’S MOVIE NIGHT | APRIL 17
Lakes Women, you’re invited to join us for a special movie night on April 17 from 7–9pm in the upper level! We’ll be featuring The War Room, a powerful film about the impact of prayer and faith in everyday life. Grab a friend and come enjoy a relaxing and encouraging night together—we’d love to see you there!
FAMILY FRIDAY FUN NIGHT | APRIL 17
Friday Family Fun Night is for kids K through 5th grade and their families! Parents are invited to join us, as this is not a drop-off event. Come out to Lakes West from 6:30-9pm for a night of family fun, friendly competition, and making great memories together. We can’t wait to see you there!

Core Ministries – Weekly Update
Being a 5th Sunday Family Service, we WILL NOT be having a meeting upstairs for our Elementary classes. However, we will have a number of our 5th Graders involved in the service downstairs! We love seeing our children getting involved in the church!
EARLY CHILDHOOD – Early Childhood (Birth – Kindergarten) program available during the 9:30 and 11:15 Sunday services.
ELEMENTARY AGE (1st-5th grade) – Elementary age program available Sundays during the 9:30 and 11:15 services and Wednesday Kids Creek from 6:30-8pm during the school year!
INFANT AND TODDLER STORYTIME – Looking for a Christ-centered way to break up your day, and get to meet other Moms with Littles? Come check out The Lakes Children Infant & Toddler Story Time. Ages 4 and under. 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 10am-12pm in the upper level of the church.

MONDAY NIGHT YOUNG ADULT GROUP –Looking for community, purpose, and real connection? Join our Young Adult Ministry—a place to grow in faith, build friendships, and navigate life together. Whether you’re in college, starting your career, or figuring things out—we’ve got a seat for you! Ages 18 (post high school) through 29, join us on Mondays from 7:00-9:00pm. We meet weekly at Lakes West (7150 Cooley Lake Rd, shared upper parking lot). Email Ministry leader Dave Borowicz with any questions.
