November 19 | Seeking God: Part 3 – Why Pray if God is in Control?  – Mark Pospisil

Synopsis: When it comes to prayer, there are questions that many people have. Such as , “why is prayer important,” or,  “why should we pray if God is in control?” Prayer is an amazing gift that the Lord has given to us. There is also a mystery of sorts when it comes to prayer. How does it change things? This Sunday, we are going to look at what the Scriptures teach us about God’s sovereignty and prayer. The Lord has clearly shown us the power of prayer but we still can be confused how it works. Prayer not only changes us but it changes things as well.

Fighter Verse: Romans 11:33-35 – Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! “For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?” “Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid?”

What’s Happening?

DISCOVERING THE LAKES | NOV 19
New around here? Join us for lunch in the large group room (219) upstairs after the second service at 12:30pm and get to know The Lakes; our mission, leadership, core values, ministries, and where you fit in! Discovering the Lakes is once every other month, so please take note of the date here!
THANKSGIVING SERVICE | NOV 20

We are excited to host a Thanksgiving Service again this year, on the Monday before Thanksgiving! Join us as we reorient our thankfulness towards God and celebrate together all that He has done!

We will have childcare available for ages birth-4 on the 2nd floor of the building.

21 DAYS OF PRAYER AND FASTING | NOV 6-27

We pray because it changes things.  Sometimes we think “prayer changes me, that’s why I should do it.” While that is true, it does change you because you are in God’s presence. It gives you a deeper spiritual experience, firmer confidence, and joy in your walk with the Lord. Yes and amen to those things. But, it’s more than that. It’s also powerful! Prayer changes things. The Lord has designed it that way.

This is why we put together a prayer guide for The Lakes Church. We encourage you to use it every day whether that is by yourself, with your spouse or whole family, or with friends. Each day includes a Scripture reference, a short devotional, and a prayer point. We are seeking God as a whole church for the next 21 days and we are going to watch the Lord do immeasurably more than we can ask or even think!

GRACE MARRIAGE | DEC 1
That’s why the Lakes Church is committed to supporting marriages. Our new ministry, Grace Marriage, is our discipleship pathway that equips couples to GROW TOGETHER. When a couple puts their marriage under the grace of Christ and intentionally works on it, it will grow into a more enjoyable and God-glorifying union. Join us at our monthly meetings as we learn together how to grow closer to God and each other and strengthen our marriages.

We will meet on the first Friday of each month beginning November 3 from 7-9 PM in the Children’s Large Group Room for 13 sessions. The cost of the program is $99.99 per couple (plus shipping for the books). Click the sign-up button to register and receive the link to pay for and attend the sessions.

Core Ministries – Weekly Update

The Israelites knew that Samuel’s time in leading them was coming to an end. But instead of trusting in God’s plan for them as His people, they thought they knew better and wanted to be like everybody else. Whew…how often can we relate to that in our lives? This Sunday, we’ll be focusing on how we should seek out the Lord in everything we do and than thanking God for all He is doing in and through us!
