Seeking God | Day 5
Philippians 1:9-11
And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
The Apostle Paul has recorded many powerful prayers and requests in the New Testament. His desire is always focused on the Kingdom of God. In Philippians 1 you see his prayer, that the church would be abounding with love for God and others. This is not a superficial idea of love that is based off of a feeling. Instead it is one that is filled with the knowledge of God’s will. This love keeps us pure and ready for the Day when Jesus returns. When we are in God’s will and close to Him, love is the natural overflow. Just look at Jesus; He was filled with so much love, even as He was being put to death on the cross He prayed for forgiveness for His enemies. The world cannot produce this love, it is only found in Jesus.
PRAYER – That the Lord’s perfect love would overflow in our hearts and be shown through the Holy Spirit. That our church would be marked by love for others and God.
