March 23 | Romans – Grasping The Gospel, Romans 13:11-14, Part 52: Put on Jesus, Put to Death Sin – Pastor Mark Pospisil
Synopsis: We all face temptations, and while it comes at us in different ways, it is common to all people. The Lord has not only saved us from the penalty of sin but also the power of sin. We now have the ability to overcome any and all temptations and we do this by putting on Jesus and putting sin to death. We are to make no provision for the “flesh.” This section in Romans shows us how to do those things. There is hope in your struggle against sin and God has given us everything we need to overcome.
Fighter Verse: Romans 13:14 – But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.

What’s Happening?
EASTER EGG DONATIONS – 3/23
This year The Lakes Church Outreach Ministry is organizing two Easter Egg Hunts for the neighboring communities. We are still in need of donations! What we’re looking for: plastic easter eggs (filled or unfilled) and candy to go inside. Our Youth Ministry will be stuffing the eggs on March 26th, so we need all donations by this Sunday! We have a space for you to drop them off at the end of the atrium.

FRIDAY FUN NIGHT – 3/28
College Basketball takes over in March…so we’re rolling with it! Friday, March 28th, we’ll be over at Lakes West from 6:30-9pm. We’ll have a night of games and challenges. Not all of them will be related to basketball…so if that’s not your child’s thing, still have them come and they will have a great time! Open to all children in Kindergarten through 5th grade.
OUTREACH MINISTRY MEETING – 3/30
Join us to learn about the exciting upcoming outreach opportunities! Food and drinks provided as well as volunteer sign ups!
When: Sunday, 3/30 after the 3rd service
Where: Upper Level Large Group Room
FAMILY SERVICE – 3/30
5th Sunday at The Lakes means Family Service! There will be no Lakes Children program for Elementary Age (1st-5th grade) this Sunday. We invite children in this age group to worship together with their families this Sunday! Early childhood (ages Birth-Kindergarten) still available during both the 9:30am and 11:15am services upstairs.
GRANDPARENT BOOK STUDY – 4/6
If you are a grandparent, you’ll be pleased to know that there are many of us who are interested in developing a support system here at the Lakes so we can be an encouragement to each other as we live out our roles to leave a legacy of faith in our families. Inspiring and equipping ALL Grands!
Join us for this 7 week study as we read through the book “Grandparenting with Grace” by Larry E. McCall. Our first meeting will be on Sunday, April 6th and we will end on June 8th. (This allows breaks for Easter, Mother’s Day and Memorial Day.) We will be meeting in the upper level of the church in Room 209 at 1pm.

WE’RE GROWING!
The Lakes Children’s Ministry continues to grow, which we are so excited about! In response to the needs of our young families in particular, we are adding a part-time position (see job description here) that will be solely focused on the Birth to Kindergarten age group of the church. Our ask? Be praying about who God would bring to fill this position (maybe you!). Share the news with someone who God might be laying on your heart. And, if they’re interested, have them send in a resume!

Core Ministries – Weekly Update
We’ll be looking at the definition of FAITH given to us in Hebrews 11:1. Now, this definition leaves it open for us to possibly put our faith in things other than the truths of the Bible. So we’ll be exploring why there should be only one true object of our faith – JESUS!
EARLY CHILDHOOD – Early Childhood (Birth – Kindergarten) program available during the 9:30 and 11:15 Sunday services.
ELEMENTARY AGE (1st-5th grade) – Elementary age program available Sundays during the 9:30 and 11:15 services and Wednesday Kids Creek from 6:30-8pm during the school year!

High School students meet on the 2nd and 4th Sunday at 6:30pm at Lakes West.
