April 23 | Genesis, part 27: The Girl Nobody Wanted (Genesis 29:13-35) – Pastor Mark Pospisil
Synopsis: This Sunday we start back our series in Genesis 29. It is the story of Jacob, Rachel, and Leah and the struggle for finding love and facing rejection. Rachel and Leah are sisters that have a rivalry of sorts. Everybody favored Rachel because she was beautiful. Although Leah was the older sister, she is described as having “weak eyes,” which means not very good looking. Leah spent her life in the shadow of her sister. She was unnoticed and rejected for most of her life. It is something we all can relate with. Everything changes in her life when she finally realizes it does not matter what she does or accomplishes but what matters is her relationship with the Lord. God also chooses Leah to bring forth His promise of blessing the whole world through His Son Jesus.
Fighter Verse: Genesis 29:35 – And she conceived again and bore a son, and said, “This time I will praise the Lord.” Therefore she called his name Judah.

MARRIAGE CONFERENCE: LOVE & RESPECT | 4/28-29
Register now for our upcoming marriage conference, Love & Respect on Friday, April 28, 2023: 6:30pm-10:00pm (doors open at 6pm) and Saturday, April 29, 2023: 8:45am-1:45pm (doors open at 8:15am).
MEN’S ADVANCE | 5/19-21
Lakes Men (18+) join us for this exciting weekend adventure filled with great teaching, fun activities and hearty meals, and plenty of time to relax and hang out with other guys. Come and be challenged to advance in your spiritual growth with biblical messages that will strengthen you as men of faith. This event will be held at Faholo Conference Center in Grass Lake, MI from May 19-21. The cost for food and lodging for the weekend is $160 (with some activities costing extra).

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER | THURSDAY 5/4
NEW ROOTED GROUP STARTING | MAY 2 (10 weeks)
Are you new to the faith and maybe new to The Lakes and looking to get plugged in and grounded in a solid foundation for your faith? Then Rooted is for you!
Rooted is an incredibly valuable 10-week study that seeks to help individuals establish firm roots in the Truth of God’s Word through personal study, and gives them a safe place to come together to ask questions. The new group is starting on Tuesday, May 2 (runs for 10 weeks) and will be hosted by Pastor Mark and his wife, Kelsey.
This is a great opportunity to ask questions in a safe place and connect with some new people. If you’ve been a believer for a while, It is still a wonderful way to revive your faith and grow in your relationship with God and others!

Core Ministries – Weekly Update
EARLY CHILDHOOD – Early Childhood (Birth – Kindergarten) program available during the 9:30 and 11:30 Sunday services.
ELEMENTARY AGE (1st-5th grade) – Elementary age program available Sundays during The 9:30 and 11:30 services and Tuesday Kids Creek from 6:30-8pm during the school year!
THIS WEEK: Moses’ mother acted out of desperation (I mean…a basket in a river, really?) She couldn’t have known that Pharaoh’s daughter would find him and raise him as her own. And that she would even let Moses’ own mother raise him until he was old enough to be an Egyptian prince. She couldn’t have known that her son would grow up to deliver the Israelites out of Egypt. But God knew. All along, God had a plan and saved Moses, called him, and equipped him to carry out that plan.

THURSDAY YOUTH GROUP – Middle School and High School students meet on Thursdays from 6:30-8:30pm for a combined youth group service.
MONDAY HIGH SCHOOL GROW GROUPS – We are taking a small break from group groups but will be coming back strong soon! Stay tuned!
Monthly Prayer | Lakes Women meet for prayer the first Saturday of each month from 9:30am to 11:00am!

Current Bible Study | April 12-May 24 (Wednesday nights): Women’s Bible Study (1, 2, 3 John)
Weekly Men’s Bible Study | Join the men of The Lakes upstairs on Saturday mornings from 8-9:30am as we study the Word and share life together.
Men’s Tuesday Bible Study | Please join us upstairs as Pastor Greg Alexander leads our weekly Bible study on Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30am
