October 15 | Proverbs – The Wisdom of God for Today’s Issues: Part 11 – Cultivating Strong Families – Mark Pospisil
Synopsis: God has designed the family. His desire and plan is for families to be whole, unified, and places of growing your faith. Unfortunately, every family has issues and some degree of brokenness. Whether this is in our marriages, our children, or relationship dynamics, families need help and healing. The book of Proverbs gives us such much wisdom and insight into family relationships. It addresses how to have healthy marriages, how to train and raise godly children, how to honor God in our current situations, and how to cultivate strong families that are centered on Jesus Christ. We need God’s wisdom for all of these issues and He has provided for us abundantly in His Word.
Fighter Verse: Proverbs 14:26 – In the fear of the Lord one has strong confidence, and his children will have a refuge.

What’s Happening?
RUN TO SET THEM FREE 5K/10K | OCTOBER 21
Join walkers and runners from all over the Metro Detroit area as The Lakes Church partners with Hope Against Trafficking for the “Run To Set Them Free 5K/10K” in the beautiful setting of Kensington Metropark. The start and finish location will be East Boat Launch Parking Area. The route will be paved and is stroller friendly.
Your participation will raise funds to help support Hope Against Trafficking and have a great impact within our community.

BAPTISM | OCTOBER 22
Baptism is the natural next step once we are saved! It represents the new life that Jesus’ resurrection gives us and is a public sign of our faith in Christ. If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, we invite you to take this opportunity to demonstrate your faith in Christ.
We will have an opportunity to get baptized during both services on this Sunday. Please fill out this form to let me know you are interested in getting baptized!
HARVEST FEST CANDY DONATION
Harvest Fest is quickly approaching (October 26). And with that, comes a great need for candy. We are now taking donations! If you would like to donate, we will have a place for you to drop it off in the atrium in the coming weeks.

HARVEST FEST | OCTOBER 26
Harvest Fest is our annual celebration of all things fall! We’ll have a huge trunk-or-treat, hot cider, donuts and other yummy fall foods, music, candy and fun activities.
Come dressed in your Halloween costume and invite all your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers along to enjoy a night of fall fun on October 26th, 6:30-8:30pm! This event is open to anyone and everyone!
*Park in the upper lot, and come down the stairs to join the fun!*

GRACE MARRIAGE | NOV 3
We will meet on the first Friday of each month beginning November 3 from 7-9 PM in the Children’s Large Group Room for 13 sessions. The cost of the program is $99.99 per couple (plus shipping for the books). Click the sign-up button to register and receive the link to pay for and attend the sessions.

Core Ministries – Weekly Update
The children love the story of Samson! A powerful warrior! Stronger than anybody! But…Samson was a selfish man and ultimately modeled everything Christ would NOT be like. We’ll be sharing with the children that, unfortunately, Samson had to go through some really bad times before he saw the truth about God for his life.
EARLY CHILDHOOD – Early Childhood (Birth – Kindergarten) program available during the 9:30 and 11:15 Sunday services.
ELEMENTARY AGE (1st-5th grade) – Elementary age program available Sundays during The 9:30 and 11:15 services and Wednesday Kids Creek from 6:30-8pm during the school year!
