Seeking God | Day 21

Revelation 21:1-5

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. (2) And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. (3) And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. (4) He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” (5) And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

Heaven is our destiny because of Jesus. Far too many times we lose sight of this. We also have some wrong understandings on what heaven will be like. Growing up I really thought heaven was a place where angels fly around and play harps all day. Or that when we die, we go up to hover around and sing forever and ever. Or that it will be just like a long church service that keeps going on and on. This is not what the Bible teaches. Heaven will be the place when every wrong is righted, every tear wiped away, every longing fulfilled. Heaven is where we belong and what we were made for. Jesus Christ has purchased eternal life for us. Let us be grateful that we will receive a kingdom that cannot be shaken. Let us set our hearts and minds on what is to come. Let us pray that many would join us for all eternity in heaven with God.

PRAYER – Pray that we know the hope that is laid up for us to come in heaven.
