September 7 | Job – Part 1: Let God Be God, Job 1:1-5 – Pastor Mark Pospisil

Synopsis: Why would a good God allow so much suffering? This is a common question that many people ask. When we are going through hardships and difficulties, we can find ourselves doubting the Lord’s plan. The good news is that the Bible directly addresses our questions on pain, trials, and more. The book of Job delves deep into this subject, especially when it comes to “innocent” people suffering. Job was a righteous man by all accounts. He went through devastating losses to his children, business, wealth, and health. On top of all of this, he had some pretty miserable friends who accuse him of doing wrong and deserving what he is facing. There is so much for our faith in this book.  It points us to the only true innocent Person to suffer, which was Jesus. This book offers us hope, trust, comfort, encouragement, and growth for our faith. It gives us a profound exploration of God’s sovereignty and goodness and to be able to trust Him when we can’t trace His hand.

Fighter Verse: Job 1:1 – There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job, and that man was blameless and upright, one who feared God and turned away from evil.

What’s Happening?

WOMEN’S MONTHLY PRAYER MEETING | 9/6
Join our Lakes Women on the first Saturday of each month on the 2nd floor, as we come together for a powerful time in praise, prayer and intercession as we seek God’s heart. Come and be a part of what God is doing through prayer!
“Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me and I will hear you.” Jeremiah 29:12
WOMEN’S FALL BIBLE STUDY | begins 9/18

Join us for a new Women’s Bible Study as we dive into Unoffendable by Brant Hansen — a powerful, funny, and challenging look at what it really means to live with grace, humility, and a heart that chooses peace over offense.

Together, we’ll explore how letting go of anger and choosing forgiveness can transform our relationships, our mindset, and our faith. This is a great study for women in every season of life — and a perfect time to invite a friend!

WOMEN’S RETREAT | 9/26-28
This summer, The Lakes Church is reading through the New Testament in 40 days.

Ladies, it’s time to trade your to-do lists for “I’ll get it done later,” your chaos for calm, and your leggings for… okay, definitely keep the leggings.

Join us for a weekend of laughter, worship, sisterhood, and maybe even a few rare moments of silence (miracles happen!). Teri Miller is going to bring us into the Word as we learn more about the Armor of God—not just to admire it, but to learn how to actually wear it without tripping over our own spiritual shoelaces. Whether you’re spiritually soaring or just here for the snacks and Jesus, there’s a place for you.

Pack your Bible, your favorite mug, and your “highly caffeinated” self—we’re retreating into rest, renewal, and ridiculous amounts of fun!
