December 22 | Christmas 2024, Luke 2:1-21, What Does Christmas Mean? – Pastor Mark Pospisil
Synopsis: What is Christmas about? We live in a time that has made Christmas a national holiday. There are celebrations and parties, gifts, lights, countless “Christmas” movies, and many other things. Some of these things are good and others distract and domesticate what Christmas is really about. It is about celebrating the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. The birth of the Son of God means so much. It shows us that God is real, that God is with us, that God is good, that God saves, and so much more. This morning we will be seeing what Christmas means.
Fighter Verse: Luke 2:10-11 – And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

What’s Happening?
NO 8:00AM SERVICE | DECEMBER 29
On Sunday December 29 we will not have an 8:00am service. We will resume our regular three service times on Sunday January 5, 2025.
FAMILY SERVICE | DECEMBER 29
5th Sunday at The Lakes means Family Service! There will be no Lakes Children program for Elementary Age (1st-5th grade) this Sunday. We invite children in this age group to worship together with their families this Sunday! Early childhood (ages Birth-Kindergarten) still available during both the 9:30am and 11:15am services upstairs.
ROOTED | JANUARY 16
Rooted is designed for all people but especially new people to the church, new Christians, and those who are looking for a refresh to their spiritual lives. This is a 10-week study of the foundational aspects of the Christian faith.

Core Ministries – Weekly Update
After Jesus’ birth, as was the custom at that time, He was dedicated to the Lord. This was done as a reminder that the Lord had looked over them and protected them throughout history. During this dedication, God graciously revealed to Simeon and Anna that Jesus was the promised Messiah they had been waiting for. At last! The Messiah had come!
EARLY CHILDHOOD – Early Childhood (Birth – Kindergarten) program available during the 9:30 and 11:15 Sunday services.
ELEMENTARY AGE (1st-5th grade) – Elementary age program available Sundays during the 9:30 and 11:15 services and Wednesday Kids Creek from 6:30-8pm during the school year!
UPCOMING EVENTS:
Family Service | December 29. Early Childhood during the 9:30 and 11:15 services only. Elementary aged kids invited to join us in service.
WEDNESDAY YOUTH GROUP – Middle School and High School students meet on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30pm for a combined youth group service in Lakes West (7150 Cooley Lake Rd, shared upper parking lot).
