September 28 | Job, Let God Be God – Part 4: Responding to Suffering, Job 2:1-13 – Pastor Mark Pospisil
Synopsis: At the end of Job 2, we see three different groups respond to suffering. When going through suffering there are so many ways we respond. We see Job’s wife lose hope and despair. Some people just want to give up. They think that things will never change. Other times, we respond by trying to mask our pain through different things like addictions or hobbies. Instead of dealing with the pain and hardships we can try to ignore them. But the proper response is to go to the Lord for hope and help, which Job does. We also see Job’s friends do something remarkable. They just sit with him for seven whole days without saying a word. This week, we are going to see how to respond to suffering and help others when they are going through it.
Fighter Verse: Job 2:9-10 – Then his wife said to him, “Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God and die.” 10 But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women would speak. Shall we receive good from God, and shall we not receive evil?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips.

What’s Happening?
FAMILY SERVICE | SEPTEMBER 28
Normally, Family Services happen on the 5th Sunday—but this week we’re doing things a little differently. Because so many of our wonderful volunteers will be away at the Women’s Retreat, we’ll be having a Family Service this Sunday instead.
What this means:
-
There will be no Lakes Children’s program for Elementary (1st-5th grade). We invite kids in this age group to join their families in the worship service!
-
Early Childhood (Birth-Kindergarten) programming will still be available upstairs during both the 9:30am and 11:15am services.
We’re excited to worship together as one big church family this weekend—and we’re praying for a refreshing and encouraging time for all of the women at retreat!
WOMEN’S MONTHLY PRAYER MEETING | OCTOBER 4
Join our Lakes Women on the first Saturday of each month on the 2nd floor, as we come together for a powerful time in praise, prayer and intercession as we seek God’s heart. Come and be a part of what God is doing through prayer!

BAPTISM | OCTOBER 12
Baptism is the natural next step once we are saved! It represents the new life that Jesus’ resurrection gives us and is a public sign of our faith in Christ. If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, we invite you to take this opportunity to demonstrate your faith in Christ.
We will have an opportunity to get baptized during all services on this Sunday. Please fill out this form to let me know you are interested in getting baptized!
HARVEST FEST | OCTOBER 23
Harvest Fest is our annual celebration of all things fall! We’ll have a huge trunk-or-treat, hot cider, donuts and other yummy fall foods, music, candy and fun activities.
Come dressed in your Halloween costume and invite all your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers along to enjoy a night of fall fun on October 23rd, 6:30-8:30pm! This event is open to anyone and everyone!
*Park in the upper lot, and come down the stairs to join the fun!*
If you’d like to donate candy, drop it off at the Welcome Desk any Sunday morning leading up to Harvest Fest!

Lakes Children is BLESSED by all the women that care for our children so well week in and week out! That’s why we’re so happy to see so many of them participating in the Women’s Retreat this weekend! And…that means our Elementary Children get a bonus FAMILY SERVICE downstairs this Sunday!
EARLY CHILDHOOD – Early Childhood (Birth – Kindergarten) program available during the 9:30 and 11:15 Sunday services.
ELEMENTARY AGE (1st-5th grade) – Elementary age program available Sundays during the 9:30 and 11:15 services and Wednesday Kids Creek from 6:30-8pm during the school year!
INFANT AND TODDLER STORYTIME – Looking for a Christ-centered way to break up your day, and get to meet other Moms with Littles? Come check out The Lakes Children Infant & Toddler Story Time. Ages 4 and under. 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 10am-12pm in the upper level of the church.
