August 31 | Winning the Battle for Your Mind, Colossians 2:1-10 – Pastor Chris Clark

Synopsis: We live in a broken world; that is not news. This broken world has embraced a lot of empty, unfulfilling philosophies, adding to its brokenness. As followers of Christ, we have encountered the truth, and it has transformed us. Yet Satan continues to battle for our minds and our worldview, seeking daily to capture it. In this passage, we will more closely examine this threat, and how God has provided for us to withstand these relentless attacks.

Fighter Verse: Colossians 2:8 – See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.

WOMEN’S FALL BIBLE STUDY | begins 9/18

Join us for a new Women’s Bible Study as we dive into Unoffendable by Brant Hansen — a powerful, funny, and challenging look at what it really means to live with grace, humility, and a heart that chooses peace over offense.

Together, we’ll explore how letting go of anger and choosing forgiveness can transform our relationships, our mindset, and our faith. This is a great study for women in every season of life — and a perfect time to invite a friend!

WOMEN’S RETREAT | 9/26-28
This summer, The Lakes Church is reading through the New Testament in 40 days.

Ladies, it’s time to trade your to-do lists for “I’ll get it done later,” your chaos for calm, and your leggings for… okay, definitely keep the leggings.

Join us for a weekend of laughter, worship, sisterhood, and maybe even a few rare moments of silence (miracles happen!). Teri Miller is going to bring us into the Word as we learn more about the Armor of God—not just to admire it, but to learn how to actually wear it without tripping over our own spiritual shoelaces. Whether you’re spiritually soaring or just here for the snacks and Jesus, there’s a place for you.

Pack your Bible, your favorite mug, and your “highly caffeinated” self—we’re retreating into rest, renewal, and ridiculous amounts of fun!

Core Ministries – Weekly Update

5th Sunday Family Service!!! Enjoy attending service and worshipping together as a family this week! (Keep an eye out for some of your classmates participating in service this morning!)

EARLY CHILDHOOD – Early Childhood (Birth – Kindergarten) program available during the 9:30 and 11:15 Sunday services.

ELEMENTARY AGE (1st-5th grade) – Elementary age program available Sundays during the 9:30 and 11:15 services and Wednesday Kids Creek from 6:30-8pm during the school year!

Middle School on High School Youth Group on break until Labor Day.

HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP – High School students meet on Sundays from 6:30-8:30pm in Lakes West (7150 Cooley Lake Rd, shared upper parking lot).

MONDAY NIGHT YOUNG ADULT GROUP –Looking for community, purpose, and real connection? Join our Young Adult Ministry—a place to grow in faith, build friendships, and navigate life together. Whether you’re in college, starting your career, or figuring things out—we’ve got a seat for you! Ages 18 (post high school) through 29, join us on Mondays from 7:00-9:00pm. We meet weekly at Lakes West (7150 Cooley Lake Rd, shared upper parking lot). Email Ministry leader Dave Borowicz with any questions.
