July 20 | Ordinary People, Extraordinary God, Genesis 32:22-28 – Wrestling For A New Name – Pastor Chris Clark

Synopsis: How do life storms and crises affect the way you pray? Do you find yourself praying more passionately, more emotionally, more frequently in a life storm than you do when life is going smoothly? Jacob was facing the crisis of his life up to that point: his brother Esau was coming to meet him with 400 other men. How did Jacob respond? We will take a look at that—and how God interacted with him throughout their encounter—and discover some valuable truths in that moment that will help us in our own prayer lives.

Fighter Verse: Genesis 32:26 – “Then he said, “Let me go, for the day has broken.” But Jacob said, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”

What’s Happening?

CHAT-A-LATTE – July 19

All Lakes Women are welcome and encouraged to attend our Chat-a-latte from 9:30-11:00am in the atrium. Bring a friend, and come relax, drink coffee (or tea), enjoy one another’s company, and get to know some new people!

VBS – July 21-24

This summer’s Vacation Bible School at The Lakes Church will be about discovering the bigness of God in the smallest of things! Come check out all the fun teachings, crafts, music, games, and more!!! Four (4) Consecutive Nights – Monday, July 21st through Thursday, July 24th | 6:00pm to 8:30pm nightly. This event is open to any child Age 4 (must be 4 by 7/21/2025) through entering 5th Grade in the Fall of 2025.

SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE – NOW-8/16

The Lakes Church Outreach Ministry is in need of volunteers as well as donations for the upcoming outreach backpack drive on August 16 from 3-5pm. We are hoping to provide back to school supplies to 50+ kids in need. A box will be located in atrium to drop off supplies. For any questions regarding supplies or in person serve opportunities, contact Jenna LaMaster.

40 DAYS IN THE NEW TESTAMENT
This summer, The Lakes Church is reading through the New Testament in 40 days. It will be one of the best things for our spiritual growth this summer. We want everybody to be involved in seeking the Lord through His Word. Listen to what Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the Word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” All it takes is a small commitment to read through the New Testament in 40 days.

Core Ministries – Weekly Update

Sometimes a lesson is soooo big and important, you need to focus on it for more than one week! So…..we’re gonna be learning a little bit more about the Armor of God! Paul reminded the Christians at Ephesus to put on truth, righteousness, readiness to take the gospel, faith, salvation, and the power of the Word of God with them wherever they go!

EARLY CHILDHOOD – Early Childhood (Birth – Kindergarten) program available during the 9:30 and 11:15 Sunday services.

ELEMENTARY AGE (1st-5th grade) – Elementary age program available Sundays during the 9:30 and 11:15 services and Wednesday Kids Creek from 6:30-8pm during the school year!

WEDNESDAY YOUTH GROUP – Middle School and High School students meet on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30pm for a combined youth group service in Lakes West (7150 Cooley Lake Rd, shared upper parking lot).

High School students meet on the 2nd and 4th Sunday at 6:30pm at Lakes West.

MONDAY NIGHT YOUNG ADULT GROUP –Looking for community, purpose, and real connection? Join our Young Adult Ministry—a place to grow in faith, build friendships, and navigate life together. Whether you’re in college, starting your career, or figuring things out—we’ve got a seat for you! Ages 18 (post high school) through 29, join us on Mondays from 7:00-9:00pm. We meet weekly at Lakes West (7150 Cooley Lake Rd, shared upper parking lot). Email Ministry leader Dave Borowicz with any questions.
