March 8 | 1 John, Without a Shadow of a Doubt – Part 5: You Don’t Know God If…, 1 John 2:7-11 – Pastor Mark Pospisil
Synopsis: You don’t know God if you hate your brother. John is crystal clear about this. He says in 2:9, “Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness.” Hate and following Jesus are not compatible. Hate drives us to the darkness and blinds our hearts and eyes. The good news is that Jesus gives us a new way to be human. One that is not driven by hate but by love. We do not have to be controlled by others but now we can be controlled by the Holy Spirit who produces good fruit in our lives. In this section of 1 John, we are given another test about knowing we are in our relationship with God. How we love or lack of it, shows so much about our own soul.
Fighter Verse: 1 John 2:9-10 – Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness. Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling.

OUTREACH MINISTRY EASTER | MARCH 21

Our Outreach Ministry is organizing an Easter Event! Residents within our community are invited to enjoy dinner, games, and a fun afternoon connecting with neighbors and The Lakes Church family.
Two location service opportunities:
– Whispering Woods Community Center
– American Inn and Suites Lobby (7076 Highland Rd, Waterford, 48327)

FAMILY SERVICE | MARCH 29
5th Sunday at The Lakes means Family Service! There will be no Lakes Children program for Elementary Age (1st-5th grade) this Sunday. We invite children in this age group to worship together with their families this Sunday! Early childhood (ages Birth-Kindergarten) still available during both the 9:30am and 11:15am services upstairs.
GOOD FRIDAY | APRIL 3
Join us at The Lakes Church on April 3 for our Good Friday services at 12pm and 6:30pm. Together, we will reflect on and remember the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. Children’s programming will be available for ages birth through 4 years old, so your whole family can participate in this meaningful time of worship.
EASTER SUNDAY | APRIL 5
We celebrate the cornerstone of Christianity, the resurrection of Jesus and the new life He gives to us! This year we will have FOUR services, and we can’t wait to celebrate with each of you at one of them! Join us at 7:15am, 8:30am, 10:00am, 11:30am, with full Lakes Children programming available in the 8:30am, 10:00am and 11:30am services.
We will also have baptism at all services on Easter. Please fill out this form to let Pastor Mark know if you are interested in getting baptized!

Core Ministries – Weekly Update
How did the early church navigate the ups and downs of their ministry, especially when faced with rejection and suffering from the religious leaders? We’ll be talking all about how the apostles stayed on mission….despite all that was thrown at them!
EARLY CHILDHOOD – Early Childhood (Birth – Kindergarten) program available during the 9:30 and 11:15 Sunday services.
ELEMENTARY AGE (1st-5th grade) – Elementary age program available Sundays during the 9:30 and 11:15 services and Wednesday Kids Creek from 6:30-8pm during the school year!
INFANT AND TODDLER STORYTIME – Looking for a Christ-centered way to break up your day, and get to meet other Moms with Littles? Come check out The Lakes Children Infant & Toddler Story Time. Ages 4 and under. 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 10am-12pm in the upper level of the church.

MONDAY NIGHT YOUNG ADULT GROUP –Looking for community, purpose, and real connection? Join our Young Adult Ministry—a place to grow in faith, build friendships, and navigate life together. Whether you’re in college, starting your career, or figuring things out—we’ve got a seat for you! Ages 18 (post high school) through 29, join us on Mondays from 7:00-9:00pm.
