March 1 | 1 John – Part 4: How to Know that You Know Christ, 1 John 2:1-6 – Pastor Mark Pospisil

Synopsis: The problem many Christians have is that they lack assurance. They lack confidence in their relationship with God and what He has called them to do. It keeps many followers of Christ feeling powerless and stuck. This section of 1 John directly addresses all of these issues. Billy Graham once said, “want to know if you really follow Jesus? Read the book of 1^st John.” This statement is so true. We can know that we know Christ. The Lord wants us to know Him and know that we belong to Him. It is vitally important for our lives. We can experience His forgiveness and power to change. We can have freedom to be truly human. All of this is available to us through Jesus, who is our Advocate. This morning, we are going to unpack what it exactly means to have Jesus as our advocate and have deep assurance of our status with God.

Fighter Verse: 1 John 2:1 – My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

ANNUAL MEETING | MARCH 1

Join us for our Annual Family Meeting. If you call The Lakes Church your home, we would love for you to join us for our Family Meeting on March 1st, 2026 at 12:30pm. We look forward to recapping all that God has done in our church over the past year, as well as giving our church family a glimpse of what we hope is to come over the next year.

WOMEN’S CONFERENCE | MARCH 7

Every day, we are influenced by the world’s wisdom. Join us for a day focused on learning the difference between God’s wisdom and the wisdom of the world. Come gather with other women on March 7th to be encouraged, grow in your faith, and strengthen one another in your walk with the Lord. The day will include Worship, a message, break-out discussion groups, and lunch. The cost is only $30 per attendee, Ages 16+.

Core Ministries – Weekly Update

What does it mean to be “sent” as followers of Christ? One of the most beautiful aspects of the gospel is that it doesn’t end its work in us when we come to faith in Jesus. Once we live for Christ, we are compelled to share the good news so others may trust in Jesus, too.

EARLY CHILDHOOD – Early Childhood (Birth – Kindergarten) program available during the 9:30 and 11:15 Sunday services.

ELEMENTARY AGE (1st-5th grade) – Elementary age program available Sundays during the 9:30 and 11:15 services and Wednesday Kids Creek from 6:30-8pm during the school year!

INFANT AND TODDLER STORYTIME – Looking for a Christ-centered way to break up your day, and get to meet other Moms with Littles? Come check out The Lakes Children Infant & Toddler Story Time. Ages 4 and under. 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 10am-12pm in the upper level of the church.

MIDDLE SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP – Middle School students meet on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30pm in Lakes West (7150 Cooley Lake Rd, shared upper parking lot).

HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP – High School students meet on Sundays from 6:30-8:30pm in Lakes West (7150 Cooley Lake Rd, shared upper parking lot).

GROW GROUPS – Join us for a bible study open to our High School Students from 5-6:30pm, location varies. Follow our Instagram to stay up to date with current information and any changes. @thelakesyouth

MONDAY NIGHT YOUNG ADULT GROUP –Looking for community, purpose, and real connection? Join our Young Adult Ministry—a place to grow in faith, build friendships, and navigate life together. Whether you’re in college, starting your career, or figuring things out—we’ve got a seat for you! Ages 18 (post high school) through 29, join us on Mondays from 7:00-9:00pm. We meet weekly at Lakes West (7150 Cooley Lake Rd, shared upper parking lot). Email Ministry leader Dave Borowicz with any questions.

OUR WEEKLY SERVICE is centered around music, prayer, Bible stories and simple life lessons. All ages and abilities are welcome to come and be free to be themselves while actively participating as a contributing member of an inclusive and loving faith community at The Lakes Church.
