November 30 | Job, Let God Be God – Part 13: Wisdom From the Youth, Job 32-37 – Pastor Mark Pospisil

Synopsis: As the book of Job is coming to an end, we meet a new character. He is not one of the three “friends” of Job or mentioned anywhere else. His name is Elihu. He saw all that happened to Job. He witnessed all of the bad advice and wrong understanding of Job’s friends. He finally gets a moment to speak and has a lot to say. He brings a whole different perspective to what is happening in Job’s life. As a younger man he has a lot of wisdom yet he does not fully grasp what the Lord is doing. There is incredible value in the youth. They bring passion, excitement, fresh perspectives, and can point out hypocrisy. They also, like all of us, can miss the big picture. We are going to see the importance of youth and how Jesus grows us to maturity and helps us to understand our blind spots.

Fighter Verse: 1 Peter 5:5 – Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

What’s Happening?

FAMILY SERVICE | NOV 30

5th Sunday at The Lakes means Family Service! There will be no Lakes Children program for Elementary Age (1st-5th grade) this Sunday. We invite children in this age group to worship together with their families this Sunday! Early childhood (ages Birth-Kindergarten) still available during both the 9:30am and 11:15am services upstairs.

ADOPT-A-FAMILY | DEC 7

If you adopted a family or individual for our Christmas Adopt-A-Family, please remember that all gifts are due back by December 7. You can drop them off in the atrium when you come to church on Sunday. And if you’d still like to get involved, stop by the Outreach table in the atrium— we still have opportunities to get involved!

COUNTRY CHRISTMAS PARTY | DEC 12

The Lakes Ole West Christmas Jamboree on December 12 — here for one night only! This fun, family-friendly Christmas show features country songs rewritten with a fresh and creative twist to tell the Christmas story like you’ve never seen or heard it before. It’s the perfect night to invite friends, family, and neighbors as we laugh, worship, and celebrate the true meaning of Christmas together. You won’t want to miss it!

BAPTISM | DEC 14

Baptism is the natural next step once we are saved! It represents the new life that Jesus’ resurrection gives us and is a public sign of our faith in Christ. If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, we invite you to take this opportunity to demonstrate your faith in Christ.

We will have an opportunity to get baptized during all services on this Sunday. Please fill out this form to let me know you are interested in getting baptized!

Core Ministries – Weekly Update

After His resurrection, Jesus returned to appear to His disciples. This action brought peace to the disciples who were still figuring out what all was going on. The disciples saw and believed in Christ’s resurrection and would become inspired to profess His peace throughout the world.

EARLY CHILDHOOD – Early Childhood (Birth – Kindergarten) program available during the 9:30 and 11:15 Sunday services.

ELEMENTARY AGE (1st-5th grade) – Elementary age program available Sundays during the 9:30 and 11:15 services and Wednesday Kids Creek from 6:30-8pm during the school year!

INFANT AND TODDLER STORYTIME – Looking for a Christ-centered way to break up your day, and get to meet other Moms with Littles? Come check out The Lakes Children Infant & Toddler Story Time. Ages 4 and under. 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 10am-12pm in the upper level of the church.
