January 18 | Sacred Ceremonies – Part 2: Baptism, Romans 6:1-4 – Pastor Mark Pospisil
Synopsis: We are continuing our Sacred Ceremonies series by looking at baptism. Baptism and communion are two of the most important practices given to us by God Himself that point to a greater reality in the Lord. Baptism is a one-time event where you identify with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. You are declaring that Jesus is Lord of your life. Baptism is a way that you go public with your faith. It is an outward sign of an inward reality that you are following Jesus and belong to Him. Baptism is not a “rededication” of your life to the Lord rather it is a sign of your new life in Christ. It shows that you trust, hope and belong to God. There are a lot of different teachings when it comes to this practice and we are going to see what the Scriptures teach about the importance and significance of it and who should get baptized.
Fighter Verse: Romans 6:4 – We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
