The God Who Sends – Saul was no stranger to religion…he believed strongly in the Jewish faith of his ancestors. He believed so strongly in that faith that he violently opposed God’s church, imprisoned believers and did everything in his power to destroy it.

While on the road to Damascus, all of that changed! Jesus revealed Himself to Saul and led him on a life-changing transformation.

God had a purpose and a plan for Saul. It was something that no one saw coming, but had been put in place before Saul was even born. We will spend several weeks talking about this transformation. Just like Saul, if we recognize our sin, repent, believe in Jesus and confess Him as Lord and Savior, our heart can be changed! And when that happens, our lives can be changed inside and out too, as we can begin to fulfill God’s plans in our lives.

Throughout the Letters to God’s People, we see many examples of the church separating themselves from sinners, groups of people different from themselves or even playing favorites within the believers of the church.

But, the gospel is for everyone, and we should show love to everyone. Love is more than feelings or words—it is an action.  Jesus showed God’s love for us when He died on the cross to rescue people from sin.  And only Jesus can save people from sin.

God accepts people who have faith in Jesus, not people who try to earn salvation on their own.  Jesus has commanded believers to love one another. We can be assured that, because He has shown great mercy to us, we can show that mercy to others.

During Jesus’ triumphal entry, the people welcomed Him as King. Jesus was the Messiah spoken about by the prophet Zechariah. One day, Jesus will return to earth as King.

The crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus is the center of the gospel. We deserve to die because of our sin, but Jesus died in our place. He was the sacrifice made once and for all for the forgiveness of sin. We are forgiven only through Jesus.
